Our Story
My grandfather had a goal to acquire as much land as he could to begin a dairy farm. He built relationships with people all over town, letting them know his goal and eventually acquired over 400 acres of land.
It took relationship building, it took hard work, it took milking cows twice a day every day no matter what, literal sweat, blood, and tears to acquire the hundreds of acres that is now Acreage Farms.
This was my dad’s side of the family. My mom also was from a family of farmers, and her father sold crop seed to my dad’s father. That is the story of how my dad met my mom: he stopped over at her family’s house to deliver crop seed to them and she answered the door. They got married 6 months later, combined the farms, began dairy farming together, and the rest is history.
January 2022 my mom passed away unexpectedly. My dad and my mom milked cows for over 30 years together. It wasn’t just their job, it was their joy to milk and farm together. They began breeding Holstein (dairy cows) to Simmental breed about a year before my mom died, in hopes of eventually converting the farm from dairy to beef.
When my mom died, it changed everything. My husband quit his job and began working full time on the farm. We knew that God had a plan for keeping the farm going and had talked before with my mom and dad about the idea of having a farm store.
I remember saying to both of my parents, imagine what the farm would be like with people walking around, being able to purchase fresh meat, actually seeing where their food comes from, having a farm that eventually would be not just a place to come and visit but an experience that people could have with their families and friends!!!
If you knew my mom, you know that she was a people person through and through. Everyone was basically family in her opinion. So yes, she could imagine that.
And yes, we can imagine that. That is why we chose the name Acreage Farms. Because through relationship building, hard work, and patience the farm has grown in acreage, and we strive to put the relationship building aspect back in farming and glorify God through partnerships, customer relationships, and supporting other local businesses in the community.
So welcome! We are excited to get to know you and your family. Thank you for your support.
